Pro Football Hall of Fame affirms rules, no ring or jacket coming for Ken Stabler’s family

A little-known but quite odd rule of the Pro Football Hall of Fame was thrust to the forefront last week, after Kendra Stabler Moyes, the daughter of Ken Stabler, shared on Twitter that she and her family did not receive either of the traditional tangible gifts given to those enshrined in the Hall, the gold jacket or ring.

Many people around the NFL spoke out, including current Oakland Raiders coach Jack Del Rio asking the Hall to honor Stabler’s family with those gifts, and Sporting News’ Alex Marvez reported that Raiders owner Mark Davis quietly tried to prevent the disagreement and convince the Hall of Fame to present Stabler’s family with the ring and jacket.

Stabler waited years to be voted into the Hall, and died of colon cancer a couple of months before the induction ceremony.

Despite the public outcry, the Hall of Fame won’t change its mind. On Tuesday afternoon, it sent a statement to media members outlining its policy for posthumous inductees, saying that the museum’s board of trustees evaluated the policy in June and decided not to change it. It also explains that families of posthumous inductees do receive a small token.

Stafford has always had a huge Nevin Lawson Authentic Womens Jersey arm. He’s always been the quarterback who could make any throw. No game was out of reach with Stafford at quarterback. In the past, the Lions regularly found themselves behind in the fourth quarter, and relied on him to bring them back. Many times, he didn’t disappoint, and has built a reputation as one of the best comeback quarterbacks in the NFL.

In 2016, Stafford is still one of the league’s best when the Lions are down. The difference is, he’s no longer relying on the big play to win games. He also is keeping the Lions in games by not forcing the football into double coverage. Rather than focusing on one wide receiver, he’s spreading the ball equally to five different weapons.

“While the portrait bust is created as the principle physical tribute to every Hall of Fame member, the Hall of Fame Board of Trustees also in 1963, began the tradition of presenting Hall of Fame Rings. Nearly three decades later, another tradition began, whereby newly elected enshrinees were presented Hall of Fame Gold Jackets.

“While the iconic bronzed busts are Quandre Diggs Authentic Womens Jersey created to memorialize every member of the Hall of Fame, the Hall of Fame Ring and Gold Jacket are items presented to living Hall of Fame members to be worn exclusively by them as evidence and pride of their having been elected to sport’s most elite fraternity. At no time in its 53-year history has the Hall of Fame presented either of these personal adornments posthumously or retroactively to a family member of a deceased Hall of Famer.

Healthy Russell Wilson makes Seahawks dangerous

According to Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, the decision to cut Russell Wilson loose was made on the plane ride home last week following the team’s loss to the New Orleans Saints.

“It was time to go,” Carroll said.

Speaking of bad polling, no one’s quite sure what’s going on in these states. In Nevada, there’s a conflict between polls that continue to show a tossup and early voting data that seems to portend favorable things for Clinton. In New Hampshire, there’s a conflict among the polls themselves, with recent surveys showing everything from a 5-point lead for Trump to an 11-point lead for Clinton.

Both states are also a bit hard to place demographically in the context of a Trump-Clinton election. New Hampshire has a reputation for being working-class, but it actually has fairly high incomes. In Nevada, the Latino and Asian-American populations are growing, but there are also lots of white voters without college degrees. Still, Democrats outnumber Republicans there, and if I had to bet against the polls anywhere, it would be on them having lowballed Clinton’s numbers in Nevada.

These states are also linked for Jeremy Lane Jersey another reason: They’re either going to be super important or totally irrelevant, without a lot of room in between. If Trump loses Florida or North Carolina, Nevada and New Hampshire’s small electoral vote totals (six and four, respectively) won’t be enough to compensate. The same idea applies for Clinton if Trump wins Pennsylvania or Michigan. But if Trump holds the Group 1 states and Clinton holds Group 2 along with the rest of her firewall, Nevada or New

These are secondary targets for Trump. Colorado was the tipping-point state in both 2008 and 2012, and Clinton’s campaign can perhaps be accused of having taken it for granted. Still, its highly-educated demographics are not a good match for Trump. The same goes for Virginia, but the race has tightened there more than most other states — Clinton’s lead has fallen from 10 points to 5 points in two weeks — possibly as parts of the Republican base have come home to Trump.

Meanwhile, Trump did poorly in Wisconsin in the Republican primary, and Obama won it easily four years ago despite the presence of House Speaker Jermaine Kearse Jersey Paul Ryan, who represents Wisconsin’s 1st Congressional District, on the Republican ticket. Still, our model says not to be totally dismissive of these states, where Clinton’s lead is only a point or so larger than in the Group 2 states.

Patriots shockingly trade Jamie Collins to Browns for a 3rd-round pick

The New England Patriots made a shocking trade one day before the NFL trade deadline, sending linebacker Jamie Collins to the Cleveland Browns for a third-round pick, as first reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The Browns later confirmed the trade.

Jones reacted to the new of the Collins trade on Twitter:

Shheeshhh

In August, the Marquise Goodwin Authentic Womens Jersey Browns sent former first-round pick Barkevious Mingo to the Patriots for a fifth-round pick, but he has played sparingly in his time in New England, contributing most on special teams.

Derek Carr broke all kinds of records, other Raiders superlatives in OT win over Buccaneers. Having to come back from all the penalties had Derek Carr putting up some monster numbers. Carr’s team also set the record for penalties.

President Obama predicts Super Bowl LI: Patriots over Seahawks. The most powerful man in the world would put his money on New England.

It started with some simple, innocent lovin’, an Earl Thomas hug for a referee (he got a flag).

Things got real sexy real fast in Buffalo when Gronk scored his 69th career touchdown. Nice. Nifty even!

But then, Bills Mafia got down and dirty. They threw a dildo on the field. Yes, a great big ol’ pink, rubber penis. One of the refs kicked it off the field. Gronk said “it was for the Bills.”

Barely 48 hours after fining a player for taking imaginary pictures, one of the refs in the Seahawks-Saints game flagged Earl Thomas for hugging him.

Cam Newton: ‘Great discussion’ with Roger Goodell about on-field treatment

Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton is satisfied he made his point to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell about not being treated fairly in the pocket.

“It was a great discussion, great talk,” Newton Vontae Davis Authentic Womens Jersey said Wednesday, a day after he talked to Goodell by phone. “I got my point across. He got his point across. That’s it.”

Newton complained after Sunday’s 30-20 victory over Arizona that he wasn’t getting the same treatment as other quarterbacks regarding late hits in the pocket.

“I’m a professional athlete. What professional athlete don’t have a gun? I have a wife and I have a son at home. My job is to protect them at all costs, and my job is to protect myself as well even though I know I have security here, but I have to protect myself as well.”

Asked if he believes if everybody in the Eagles Winston Guy Authentic Womens Jersey locker room and around the league carries a gun, he said, “I do. Yes, I do.”

The 25-year-old acknowledged that he was at the Eagles’ NovaCare facility Tuesday morning prior to the arrest, but told ESPN that he made a stop before heading home over the Walt Whitman — to pick up his gun. He would not reveal where.

Eagles wide receiver Josh Huff will be available to play Sunday against the Giants despite his arrest Tuesday, coach Doug Pederson said.

Huff confirmed that the gun is licensed in Texas, and acknowledged that he wasn’t as familiar with the New Jersey laws as he should have been. He said that he felt his life has been threatened in the past, which is why he chooses to carry a gun.

“I’m from Houston. You can’t trust a lot of people in Zach Kerr Authentic Womens Jersey Houston,” he said. “There’s always somebody out to get you. You’ve got to protect yourself. Even when I’m back in Houston, I always have a gun on me, because there’s been several instances in Houston where I’ve lost a friend to gun violence, and he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time, so why would I let that happen to me?”

Coach Doug Pederson said that there would not be any immediate discipline as a result of the arrest, and that the plan as of now is for Huff to play Sunday at the New York Giants.

Blount gets into the end zone again on Sunday

“Just want to introduce myself. Matthew Berry. And I wanted to thank you.”

Foster looked at me intently as I continue.

“I hate ‘Caillou’ too.”

You see, in 2014, Foster had tweeted this:

I can tolerate most of these kid shows, but Doug Gilmour Womens Jersey caillou is unbearable. There’s no plot and the animation is avg. Can’t take it.

– Feeno (@ArianFoster) March 26, 2014
I don’t know that I have ever loved anything an athlete has tweeted more than this. Have you ever seen “Caillou?” This is the worst children’s show ever made. There, I said it.

Philip Rivers, Chargers: In his past four games against Denver, Rivers has finished as QB21, QB28, QB16 and then QB21 in Week 6 of this year. The game is in Denver, where the Broncos have given up just three touchdown passes in four games this season. No thanks.

Marcus Mariota, Titans: A hot waiver-wire pickup last Felix Potvin Womens Jersey week, Mariota came crashing down to Earth last week, and I believe that continues. There’s going to be a lot of DeMarco Murray here. It’s not as great a matchup as you think against the Jaguars, who have allowed just 13 fantasy points per game in their past four, including just three touchdown passes allowed. I expect a low-scoring, run-heavy game here, which makes Mariota a QB2 this week.

Jacquizz Rodgers, Buccaneers: With no sign of Doug Martin, it’s the Quizz Show once again. Somehow still available in more than 60 percent of ESPN.com leagues, he will once again get the majority of work against a Raiders team that is giving up 5 yards per carry and has allowed opposing backs to rush for more than 125 yards AND a score in four of their past six games. In his two starts this season, Rodgers has 62 touches for 292 yards. How nuts is that? Last season, only Adrian Peterson had 26 or more carries in consecutive games the way Rodgers has.

Spencer Ware, Chiefs: At some point, Jamaal Charles owners are going to have to get used to the fact Ware is here to stay. Oh, Charles will eventually increase his workload, but if you think Andy Reid is pulling this stud off the field, you’re nuts. Averaging a video game-esque 7.1 yards per touch this season, Ware is locked in as an RB1 and worth the price in daily against a Colts team that is 28th against the run during the past four weeks and allows the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing runners.

Expect LeGarrette Blount to improve upon his season-low five fantasy points from the first meeting with the Bills. Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports
LeGarrette Blount, Patriots: I don’t know … did you SEE what Jay Ajayi did to this Bills defense? Blount actually has more multi-score games this season (two) than he does zero-touchdown games (one). Yes, he has scored in every game but one and yes, that one game was the Bills game in Week 4, but whatever. They are, shall we say, a more efficient offense under Tom Brady than Jacoby Brissett. Blount gets into the end zone again on Sunday against a Bills team that is 30th against the run during the past four weeks and allows the fourth-most yards per carry after first contact this season.
