Tony Romo trade rumors: Chiefs could be a landing spot

The Chiefs could be a potential landing spot for Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Romo, who is under contract in Dallas through 2019, is likely to be traded with Dak Prescott solidified as the team’s starting quarterback.

You may have missed the news from the mega-conglomerate snack food industry (via Advertising Age): Doritos, part of PepsiCo’s Frito-Lay division, will end its streak of advertising in the Super Bowl that dates to 2007.

There are no plans for Frito-Lay brands to advertise during the upcoming Super Bowl as it did not fit with our marketing plans, however, we continue to enjoy a great partnership with the NFL that connects multiple brands within PepsiCo, a Frito-Lay spokesman told Ad Age in an email.

The 10-game streak began with the crowd-sourced Crash the Super Bowl ad contest. Before that, Frito-Lay advertised its Lay’s potato chips and Tostitos-brand tortilla chips during the Super Bowl. So while PepsiCo will be all over Super Bowl 51 (its Pepsi Zero Sugar is sponsoring Lady Gaga’s halftime show), there will be no Doritos for you.

Jose Bautista gets best of unwritten rules as Blue Jays drill Braves

Jose Bautista knew it was coming. Heck, all of baseball understood he was likely going to be plunked intentionally in his first at-bat of Thursday’s series finale with the Braves at SunTrust Park. After all, according to baseball’s unwritten rules, he deserved it.

He threw 45 pitches in the first inning, giving up two hits and three walks. The Padres scored two runs in the first, including one walked in by Montero.

Officially, it’s a 45-pitch first inning for Rafael Montero. The Mets don’t want him to throw more than 75 in the game. You do the math.

Youth Charcandrick West Jersey Montero was pulled after three innings but enough damage was done: three runs (all earned) on five hits and three walks,) and the Mets went on to lose, 4-3
Ian Kinsler made this sweet diving play at second base to prevent Norichika Aoki from advancing as George Springer hit into a fielder’s choice in the third inning of the Astros’ eventual 7-6 win over Detroit.

Cubs at Dodgers, 10:10 p.m. ET — Alex Wood (5-0) has registered four straight wins and looks to make it five in a two as this three-game series opens at Dodger Stadium. Wood takes his nifty 1.88 ERA to the mound against Jake Arrieta (5-3), who hasn’t exactly been a model of consistency this season, losing three of his last five starts and watching his ERA balloon to 4.80.

Mets starter Jacob deGrom allowed home runs to Brewers’ Eric Thames and Keon Broxton in a dismal outing which lasted just four innings. The All-Star right-hander gave up seven runs and five walks as the Mets ended May five games below .500. Even Mr. Met was upset after the game.

it would help keep pressure off Goff and open things up in the passing game.

The quickest way to get the Rams offense moving again is to get Todd Gurley running like the same player who won the 2015 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year. With a rare combination of size, speed, and agility, he ran for 1,106 yards and 10 touchdowns that year. But he looked like a different player in his sophomore season.

The offensive line couldn’t create creases for him, and with no passing game to speak of, it was too easy for defenses to take away the run. As a result, Gurley totaled just 885 rushing yards and six touchdowns on 278 attempts. His average of 3.2 yards per carry was way off the 4.8 yards per rush he compiled as a rookie.

His ability to break off big plays was gone too. He only had two runs go over 20 yards last season, compared with 11 the year before.

Under McVay, Washington didn’t run the ball that much — only five teams had fewer rushing attempts last season. But thanks in part to a breakout season from undrafted rookie free agent Rob Kelley, Washington was seventh in the league with 4.5 yards per carry. And that was without a talent like Gurley.

If Gurley can command a defense’s attention again, it would help keep pressure off Goff and open things up in the passing game.

Twenty years ago, Air Bud found a home in Washington state with a young boy in need of a friend. Not only was Air Bud a trustworthy confidant with a magnificent golden mane, he was an athletic marvel who won a basketball championship — and the hearts of America. He went on to wow us with his football skills in Air Bud: Golden Receiver, and even made his way on the Seattle Seahawks’ field, where he caught a touchdown pass from Warren Moon:

The Seahawks are doing fine for themselves, but if we’ve learned one thing from the immortal (AIR BUD CAN NEVER DIE) dog’s many sequels, it’s that Air Bud can make any team, in any sport, better.

NFL receiver Andrew Hawkins just graduated from Columbia University with a 4.0 GPA

DWTS has never been about amazing dancers. It’s been about people from different walks of life trying their best, and to this end Ross epitomized the show. He got better, but he was a far cry from what Jennings brought on the season finale.

Now we have the long wait to see who the next athletes to throw their hats into the ring will be. We’ll always have this moment from Ross’ unforgettable Magic Mikeroutine:

Hawkins played with the Browns in 2016 before asking to be released so he could chase a championship with a contender. He did just that a week after his graduation when the 31-year-old receiver announced that he was signing with the New England Patriots.

Before he joined the defending Super Bowl champions, Hawkins made the most of the opportunity to use his time to get a degree from one of the most prestigious universities in the country.

Congratulations and thank you for all you do for Florida State! I know you could have gone anywhere for Med School and I’m so proud you chose to continue to be the best ambassador for our alma mater! Go Noles
